Key Points From This Episode:
- As teams come together they go through various stages of forming, storming, and norming.
- In the storming phase they need to know; do I belong in this space? What is my role? Am I willing to put the team’s vision before my individual goals?
- “Buy in” to the vision of the team is critical in these early phases on a team that wants to see multiplication.
- The vision for multiplying disciples and groups is not something you can pursue casually. It has to be the grid through which you evaluate all of your decisions as a team.
- For some teams disciple multiplication is a dream and a hope, but not a clear focus.
- There are several best practices for teams wanting to multiply disciples. First, they need a clear plan and strategy.
- People need to know, am I doing the right thing? Am I in the right role? Then they need accountability regarding that.
- Secondly, teams that want to multiply need to create a culture of deep dependance on the Lord. This involves prayer.
- We say prayer is the work, but we don’t live that out in reality.
- Thirdly, we need to develop a culture in the team that says “Failing forward is okay.” Things that don’t work or aren’t fruitful are not failures, but lessons learned and opportunities for growth.
- Abiding in Jesus is a lot more than just having a good quiet time each day. It is a consistent relationship.
- Shift from a “I can fix it” mentality to one of “God can fix it. My job is to listen and obey.”
- Make vulnerability around our interactions with Jesus part of our teams constant conversation.
