LISTEN TO THE EPISODE

Summary:

In this episode, Cynthia sits down with Kevin Greeson, author of Sowing With Intent, to explore the Parable of the Sower—arguably Jesus’ most foundational teaching on spiritual multiplication. Drawing from decades of church planting experience across South Asia, Kevin shares transformative insights into this often misunderstood parable, revealing its deep relevance for anyone seeking to expand the Kingdom of God. Whether you’re a ministry leader or simply curious about the power of intentional discipleship, this conversation will challenge and inspire.

Key Points From This Episode:

  • Mark 4:13 Jesus said, “If you don’t understand this parable, how will you understand any parable?”  Understanding the parable of the sower is key!
  • We often look to Jesus for theology and to Paul for missions strategy, but Jesus is the greatest missionary and missiologist.  Lets find and follow His strategies.
  • John 4:1 shows that there were many baptisms.  “Your disciples baptize more than John’s.”  Jesus started a movement in Galilee.
  • Jesus set up the whole thing that happened on Pentecost.  Don’t give credit to Peter for that.  Jesus sent the 120 to the upper room.  The Galilean movement jumpstarted the Jerusalem movement.
  • Jesus is a genius at missions strategy!
  • Persons of Peace are generous people who provide a base of operations for you to work from.
  • At the end of my life, when I stand before the Lord I want to say “I studied your ministry in Galilee.  I am your disciple and I tried to reproduce what you did.”
  • Let’s go DO the Parable of the Sower!
  • 3 Lessons we learn from the parable. 1) Sow like crazy. 2) Pay attention to what comes up 3) Anticipate that you will find a movement catalyst.
  • When you find your 4th soil person, your multiplication efforts will go much faster.
  • Key question they asked as they entered. “We are people of God. We are here to bless your community. Is there anyone here who needs prayer?”
  • Kevin used Jesus’ categories.  From the parable to measure the responses.  They were listening for the “magic” words. “This is good for me and this is good for my family or my community”
  • Remember.  You are NOT the 4th soil person.  You are to look for them. When you find them, God will use them to reach that area.
