In the third and final episode in this series on the Holy Spirit, Cynthia and Jenn talk through common questions about how to cast out demons, discern when you are facing spiritual warfare, and other questions people often ask about the Holy Spirit.

- We receive the Holy Spirit when we put our trust in Jesus for salvation, He comes and lives within us.
- In the book of Acts we find on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, the disciples were baptized in the Holy Spirit. Baptism indicated immersion, a complete “going under” the power of His Spirit and a surrendering to give Him full control.
- The baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts often involved speaking in tongues, but not always. And new boldness to witness was another common characteristic of the Holy Spirit’s baptism.
- Miracles, signs and wonders including deliverance are often important in new pioneering work and helpful in the demonstration of the Kingdom of God, the breaking of strongholds where demonic powers have held people captive for generations.
- Not everyone who is healed or delivered continues in faith and these miracles should never be used to manipulate. They are not transactional. Be careful not to agree if people say, “If I am healed, I will follow Jesus.”
- Discipleship and ongoing surrender to Christ are necessary. Miracles often kickstart a movement but don’t sustain it.
- Spiritual warfare is normal and we need to learn to discern it.
- When going into new territory or a new culture or place, we may encounter strongholds we are not used to facing and have to do spiritual warfare against those powers until we establish spiritual authority in that area.
- Casting out demons is not complicated or difficult. Exercise the authority you have in Christ. Use the name of Jesus. Pray a simple prayer and command the demon to leave.
- It may take time, but the demon has to go.
Action Step: Get somewhere quiet and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you!
